Winter Weather Watch for Beaufort County...

The Town of Bluffton Emergency Management is closely monitoring the weather conditions as the National Weather Service is predicting 1-3 inches of snow to fall in the area tomorrow. A Winter Weather Watch will be in effect for Beaufort County beginning Wednesday at 6 a.m. until Thursday at 12 a.m.

The Bluffton Police Department will be monitoring the roads closely and if icy conditions appear, they will contact the South Carolina Department of Transportation who has sand available to disperse on roadways as hazardous conditions are identified.

“Please stay off the roads tomorrow, if you don’t need to be out. However, if you are going to be driving, remember bridge’s ice before roads and drive very slowly. Allow extra time for you to get to work or appointments. Also, please be aware of ponds and other small bodies of water. These areas may appear to be iced over, but do not walk on the surfaces. Finally, ice could form on branches and power lines, which may cause these to fall, so it is important everyone be aware of their surroundings,” said Bluffton Police Chief Joseph Manning. While police will be closely watching the roadways, if you believe there is a hazardous area of the road that should be sanded, you can call the
Beaufort County non-emergency line at 843-524-2777.
