Author: CH2 Press Release

The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce will present a special seminar on social media at this year’s Business EXPO. Curt Mercadante, principal of Merc Strategy Group, LLC will discuss the use of social media in marketing-from Twitter to Facebook to blogs in “The Press Release is Dead: Using New Communications Tools to Build Your Business, Non-Profit or Campaign.”

Merc Strategy Group, LLC, is a firm that utilizes technology to build winning strategic communications campaigns for corporations, non-profits and advocacy organizations. Mercadante advises that all types of businesses and organizations stand to benefit from the use of marketing avenues like Facebook and blogs and that social media is here to stay.

“What people refer to as ‘social media’ tools are really just modern communications tools,” Mercadante says. “They allow us to communicate effectively and quickly to engage with our audiences like never before.”

The social media seminar will be held during Business EXPO at 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 18 at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa. The cost to attend is $10 and includes admission to EXPO After Hours immediately following the seminar.

Business EXPO features more than 100 businesses showcasing goods and services at one of the region’s largest networking events. About 2,000 people attend each year. Business EXPO opens on Wednesday, February 17 with EXPO After Hours from 5-7:30 p.m. and continues at noon on Thursday, February 18 with free admission until 5 p.m.

The presenting sponsor of Business EXPO is Hilton Head Regional Healthcare and EXPO After Hours is sponsored by Hargray Communications and Palmetto Electric Cooperative.
