Did You Know?

That this is the 3rd year for CH2’s Bachelor of the Year contest.

That, generally, the definition of the word bachelor is “an unmarried man.” But it can also mean “a young knight in the service of another knight in feudal times.” It would be cool if a knight won our contest this year.

Over 80 men were nominated in last year’s contest.

Over 3,500 local folks voted for CH2’s Bachelor of the Year. (That’s about ten percent of HHI’s population).

CH2’s previous Bachelor of the Year winners are both teachers.

The winner of this year’s Bachelor of the Year contest will receive $3,000 in cash and prizes and will be featured on the cover of the January 2009 issue of CH2.

This year’s “Meet the Bachelors” party will be at Rider’s on October 23rd. The theme is Carnivale and there will be a dunk tank. A dunk tank consists of a large tank of water, over which a seat is suspended. By striking a target, the seat will tip or fall into the tank of water, thus “dunking” whoever is sitting on the seat. The Bachelor nominees will not be dunked.

The Bachelor of the Year contest is for a good cause. The Island Rec Center received a check for $1,600 last year, thanks to all of the Hilton Head and Bluffton bachelors who were brave enough to participate.

You can see who’s been nominated so far this year by typing www.celebratehiltonhead.com into your web browser.

Our sponsors are awesome. Special thanks to Live Oac, Golf Outfitters, the Big Bamboo, The Porcupine, Wm. F. Hilton Co., Prime Real Estate, Adventure Radio, Rider’s Lounge and the “silent sponsor” who does not want to be recognized publicly (but we know who you are…so thank-you!).

You are not considered a “bachelor” in this contest if you have a girlfriend.

Nominations are open until September 5th at midnight. Nominate your friend, brother, son or ex-boyfriend TODAY! (www.celebratehiltonhead.com)

You can nominate yourself. No one will ever know.
