Fun Fact!
Since 1939 Hampton has hosted the Hampton County Watermelon Festival, held the third week of June. From the beginning the festival has been a celebration of Hampton County, timed to the melon harvest every summer. This year’s festival runs from June 15-24 and includes a youth parade, Mud Run, several arts & crafts contests, a bluegrass concert, fishing, a carnival, and (obviously) a watermelon eating contest. For more information and a full schedule of events, visit http://www.hcmelonfest.org.
