Your Day Your Way: Westin Weddings Making Dreams Come to Life

The biggest decision has been made. You’re getting married. Congratulations! Now for the second biggest decision: where and when to say your vows and celebrate your union.

Choosing a wedding venue can be a daunting task, but The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa makes that decision easier with 37,000 square feet of flexible space available, including the newly-opened Grand Ocean Terrace, which boasts sweeping ocean views.

Touted as “the most stunning oceanfront venue on the East Coast,” the Grand Ocean Terrace is elevated above beach level for unobstructed ocean views, with glass walls that slide open to a full-length balcony, a private oceanfront deck for picturesque ceremonies, and an adjacent stone patio with fireplace. With its coastal chic décor and neutral color palette, the scene can be set to match your vision. What’s more, you can relax, because this year-round venue is fully climate controlled, eliminating the need for a backup or change of plan should the weather not cooperate on your special day.

“It’s truly one of a kind on the East Coast. We’ve done our research. We’ve looked everywhere, and there is nothing like it,” said Lauren Taylor, marketing manager. “It’s both heated and air-conditioned, and you can also open the walls—they completely fold into the inner walls—and allow the ocean breezes to sweep through.” With over 5,000 square feet for seating, the room can accommodate up to 220 wedding guests with space for food stations and a dance floor (or 320 for a private banquet event). Should your wedding plans call for a smaller space, it can be divided with soft draperies for a more intimate feel. A bridal ready room make this venue the quintessential choice for convenience, beauty, versatility and the WOW factor you want on your wedding day.

In addition to the Grand Ocean Terrace, The Westin offers an array of exceptional spaces to accommodate both formal and casual affairs, from bridal showers to the rehearsal dinner to the ceremony and reception. The oceanfront deck is ideal for the bride who wants to be outdoors, at the beach and see the ocean but not stand on the sand or amidst other resort guests—a romantic choice that can accommodate 250 guests; Mitchelville Gazebo Room is a private terrace overlooking the resort gardens and koi pond with an ocean view and can accommodate up to 60 guests; the Grand Ballroom is an elegant indoor space that can accommodate up to 400 guests or be sectioned down for more intimate receptions—an ideal weather backup if you are not in the Grand Ocean Terrace; and, of course, there’s the beach itself, which makes a glorious natural setting for the ceremony with little need for embellishment. The Westin can accommodate up to 100 guests on the beach.

“Our beachfront weddings are a little more secluded since we are on the north end of the island,” Taylor said. A private beach entrance between the sand dunes allows the bride to come down in all her splendor without a crowd of gawking strangers or the risk of a photobomb, she explained.

Further enhancing your choice of a Westin wedding venue is the availability of a full-service salon and spa on site, offering complete hair and makeup services for the bride and her wedding party, including a pre-wedding trial for the bride.

Catering options are also vast and varied, with offerings to suit the most discriminating palate. Packages range from hors d’oeuvres only to complete plated dinners, buffets or stations. Beverage service includes customizable options for hosted bars with professional bar staff.

“Our culinary team is just amazing,” Taylor said. “We emphasize farm or sea to table on all of our menus.” The catering team also acts as a day-of coordinator, making sure that the wedding planner knows where everything is going and that the deliveries are coming on time, she explained. “It’s kind of like your one-stop shop for a wedding. We’re also fortunate that we have great relationships with a lot of the local vendors, making for seamless planning and coordination of every detail.”

The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa is also an ideal place for guests who need overnight accommodations. According to Taylor, 75 percent of guest rooms have an ocean view, and no rooms face the parking lot. “Either you face the island with sweeping views of the native trees, or you have a resort view or ocean view.” Rooms are spacious and thoughtfully designed, all featuring the Westin Heavenly Bed® and double vanity Heavenly Bath® as well as a private balcony.

Celebrate the most important day of your life at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa, and, like pure magic, see your dreams come to life. Have your day, your way.
