A brand new assisted living community, The Palmettos of Bluffton, is scheduled to open late summer and will be located on the NHC Bluffton campus off of Hwy 170. The community will offer residents the highest quality continuum of care they may need for their convenience and peace of mind.
At The Palmettos of Bluffton, residents’ health and safety will be the number-one priority. A compassionate and dedicated team who have completed the proper training and certification necessary to care for all of the residents’ needs is in place. The daily care of residents will be managed by Kris Moore, LPN, health services director, with 30-plus years of nursing experience. For prompt and convenient quality care, residents may choose the community medical director to serve as their primary care physician. The Palmettos commitment to residents is to take NHC’s 35 years of experience and use it to enhance the lives of those who call their community home. That is why they are “Generations Serving Generations.”
Stacy Floyd, executive director, has served NHC Bluffton as the memory care coordinator since 2010 and has 16 years’ experience serving seniors in assisted living and dementia care settings. She is also a board certified activity consultant and certified dementia care practitioner. When asked what has drawn her to this profession and what drives her to continue working in it, she said, “It is truly the chance to have a positive impact on the lives of others and see the difference you make each day in their lives. For example, when a resident who was isolating themselves at home and not socializing or not participating in activities, moves into our community and begins trying art for the first time or dancing, singing or interacting with other residents, smiling and having fun, we know we made a difference. I want to see each individual have the best quality of life possible.”
Anna Makar, community relations director, joins the Palmettos team with over 15 years serving the senior community and has also been with NHC Bluffton as admissions coordinator since their opening. She specializes in assisting families with transitioning to a lifestyle that reduces life’s daily responsibilities that can become a burden to seniors in later years. “I want families to feel a sense of relief and a peace of mind when choosing The Palmettos to be their home,” she said. “I think about my mama and what I would want for her—a safe, enriching environment that promotes friendships, social activities and fun.”
The community features 55 apartment suites, which will accommodate a supportive lifestyle, while residents enjoy The Palmettos’ lovely campus, stylish dining, and all the activities, events and services. From medication supervision to art and music therapy, residents will receive appropriate care for their level of need, remaining vital and independent to enjoy all The Palmettos of Bluffton has to offer.
The Harbor, the memory care neighborhood of The Palmettos of Bluffton, will accommodate the unique needs of memory impaired residents and provide the secure, safe environment that ensures each resident’s optimal health, emotional and spiritual well-being while providing true peace of mind to family members. The Harbor will allow residents to receive individualized assistance, enabling them to maintain their quality of life and allowing them as much independence as possible.
