LAVA 24 Fitness is a full-service health solution for people of all ages and different levels of ability and fitness.
“We have members in training now from ages 16 up to 84,” said Ty Bostic, director of fitness and training at LAVA 24.
But this is not a one-size-fits-all fitness center, where members are expected to exercise and train at the same intensity. “Before members join, they are given a free, full-body movement assessment that tells us the level that each individual will begin their training,” Bostic said. From there, I can apply proper regression or progression, when appropriate, to fit their needs. That way, members of any range of ability can train in the same class, but at their own level.”
Bostic himself adds another dimension of value to the LAVA 24 Fitness team. As a certified trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), his passion for fitness is combined with the highest level of professionalism, ensuring that LAVA 24 members get the best fitness experience available.
Bostic’s experience and education raises the fitness offerings at LAVA 24 to a higher level. “We do a functional type of training that focuses on fat loss and strength training,” Bostic said. “I use something called HIIT, which stands for high-intensity integral training.”
A popular trend in fitness is class training, and LAVA 24 has something for everyone. Fundamental-Fit Training is an ideal starting point for beginners and for those who score one or lower on any area of LAVA 24’s movement assessment. This is also a great place to start for those who clear the screen but have not trained in a while. This session covers all the basic movements that are essential building blocks for their program.
If you want to experience a high energy, calorie melting, cardiovascular workout, you’ll want to try Kick & Step. This class alternates intermediate/advanced step choreography, boxing, and self-defense moves to give you an intense cardiovascular workout while strengthening your entire body. All fitness levels are welcome in this class.
You can go right for those “trouble areas” with the Butts and Guts class, where you’ll tone and sculpt your buns, thighs, and abs. This class is a type of core training, which utilizes the body’s weight; incorporating abdominal, leg, and hip exercises. This class is also good for any level of fitness.
LAVA 24’s Active Yoga is an invigorating active flow class. You’ll move through postures with fluidity and strength. This class combines strength, balance, flexibility, and rest while encouraging movement and the flow of blood and oxygen through the body. Balance and awareness are necessary in order to maintain an active lifestyle. There’s also a Gentle Yoga class for a lighter version.

Meta-Burn is a 50-minute session that is among LAVA 24’s most advanced metabolic team training options. In order to participate, clients must score higher than two on all of the movement patterns in their assessment.
Pilates is a popular mat class that focuses on the core postural muscles that help keep the body balanced and are essential for a healthy back. Exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine and aim to strengthen the deep torso muscles.
LAVA 24’s Senior Strength and Balance class is designed for older adults who are looking to work on increasing functional strength, flexibility, and balance. A certified trainer guides participants through exercises using basic resistance equipment, individual body weight, and chairs for assistance.
Spinning is an excellent cardio class that will challenge both your heart and your mental strength. A certified instructor guides participants through a route full of rolling hills, flat roads, and long climbs. This low-impact class is appropriate for all levels.
The Total Strength class is an option for those looking to build strength. While work intervals are timed (normally 30 seconds or less), emphasis is placed on quality and increasing strength more than on metabolic training.
For members seeking a more intimate fitness setting, small group personal training can be an attractive alternative to class training, not only for the personalized attention and guidance, but as a way to share the costs of a trainer.
Typically involving one coach with two to four clients, small group sessions are booked on the hour by appointment and are ideal for clients with specific goals and/or injuries or for those who feel more comfortable with smaller groups. Because small group is not a class, it is truly personal training that can accommodate a wide range of fitness levels and health issues, from athletes to post rehab.
Perhaps the most important LAVA 24 offering is their physical training program. They pride themselves on providing the most personalized, integrative, and skilled physical therapy services available. Their highly-trained therapists provide treatment that reduces pain and inflammation, increases range of motion, and improves posture, strength and body mechanics.
A big part of the physical therapy is a step toward a higher level of fitness. “Physical therapy is a crucial aspect of exercise training, because it helps you to move better. And when you move better, you exercise better,” Bostic said.
Another distinctive value that LAVA 24 Fitness offers is nutritional guidance and recommendations. This service is not only available to members but also to non-members. With an online nutritional plan, participants can keep track of not only the calories they take in and put out, but they also have the ability to focus on the macro-nutrients in the body by using a report card-based app that is easily accessible by smart phone.
