There’s a new fish in town! After 14 years in business, Red Fish Hilton Head has expanded with the addition of a Bluffton location. In the former Myrtle’s Event Space at 32 Bruin Road near Old Town Bluffton, Red Fish Bluffton is a completely remodeled space that boasts an absolutely beautiful dining experience. From the spacious trellised patio, complete with an inviting outdoor fireplace and welcoming wine barrel planters, to the large open bar and dining room with garage-style doors that open to the outdoor seating when the weather permits, no detail was overlooked in the renovation. Even the gorgeous private dining room, adorned with chic sliding barn doors, an oversized antique mirror and a wine barrel ring light fixture, oozes elegance. Grey hues enhanced by natural-toned drum lighting create a sleek dining room with a modern ambience and slight rustic touches.
Red Fish owners decided to open the Bluffton location over a year ago when they realized the growth potential and diversity a Bluffton restaurant would provide. The extensive renovations took almost a year to complete. The timing for opening Red Fish Bluffton was perfect for business. It worked out well to open after the busy summer tourist season at Red Fish Hilton Head so that management could move their focus and provide adequate work force to accommodate the new restaurant and make sure everything ran smoothly.
Red Fish Bluffton has a similar menu though not exactly the same as the Hilton Head restaurant.
Management brought over some successful menu items from its counterpart, and Red Fish Bluffton’s executive chef, Parker Stafford, added items that work well with his kitchen and repertoire. The food is still sourced and purchased with quality as its focus. While Red Fish prefers to shop locally, the restaurant tries to find the best product in terms of quality at the given time of year. In fact, much of the produce served at Red Fish is from Bear Island Farm. The restaurant provides fresh, local fish and free-range meats whenever possible. Red Fish also offers a gluten free menu.
The extensive wine list is similar but varies slightly from that of Red Fish Hilton Head due to space constraints at the Bluffton location. However, there is still a retail offering of unique varietals that cannot be found elsewhere. Red Fish has won many awards, including Wine Spectator’s “Best of Award of Excellence.” The wine selection will continue to grow and expand as the owners become more familiar with what is working for the Bluffton area.
The restaurant also utilizes eco-friendly efforts such as recycling, composting, and wine glasses made from recycled wine bottles. The restaurant is also known for its excellent treatment of its staff. Each year, they take a team of long-term employees to Napa, California as a reward, team-building event, and educational wine experience.
Red Fish Bluffton is taking its time and making sure everything is done correctly, and it shows! Fabulous food, excellent service, and a beautiful atmosphere all work together to make Red Fish Bluffton one of the best new restaurants in town. Word is spreading quickly, so reservations are highly recommended.
Red Fish Bluffton is open seven days a week, including lunch Monday-Saturday and brunch on Sundays. Call (843) 837-8888 for reservations, or visit redfishofbluffton.com for online reservations and more information. You can also find them at facebook.com/redfishbluffton.
