January 2007

Editor's Note - January

Author: Maggie Washo

I resolve not to make any resolutions this year. That way I may actually accomplish something. Exercise more, eat less, quit smoking, save money- the list goes on. But what about making fun resolutions you are sure to keep? How about “I resolve to spend more time with my friends and family and less time at work”. (Just don’t put this one up on your corkboard at the office) Or, “This year I promise to donate money to those less fortunate than myself.” You still may not be saving as much as you should- but at least it’s going to a good cause! I suggest you adopt my personal favorite, “I vow to eat chocolate every day.” It’s good for you – really!

Seriously though, should you decide to follow through with making resolutions again this year, check out our tips for sticking to them on page 16. If losing weight is one of your goals for 2007, don’t miss George Newell’s article on page 10 for a new way to look at weight loss. Everyone at Celebrate Hilton Head has collectively resolved to shop local year round – not just during the holidays. To find out why this is so important to our community as a whole, please read “Our Friends, Our Neighbors – Our Town!”(page40).

Finally, it is my pleasure to congratulate Jimmy Leppert (page26) on winning the title of Celebrate Hilton Head’s Bachelor of 2007. Ladies, this guy is a catch! I don’t think he’ll be a “bachelor” for very long. Thanks to all of our readers and sponsors for making this such a fun contest. We’ll definitely be doing it again next year!

Happy New Year from all of us at Celebrate Hilton Head!
