The Wait is Over!
It’s time to meet Hilton Head Island’s most eligible bachelors. After receiving dozens of nominations for the Bachelor of the Year contest, we have narrowed it down to 13 finalists. Our judges took on the difficult task of rating personalities, based on a questionnaire our nominees submitted along with their photos. To fairly assess our candidates on a level beyond their good looks, photos were rated separately from the questionnaires, so the judges had no idea which face went with which survey. With so many interesting and attractive men competing, the process of elimination was challenging, to say the least. I’m glad I wasn’t on the committee.
Our finalists are from all over the country (and even from South Africa) and range in age from 21 to 37. After meeting these gentlemen at the Metropolitan Lounge for the photo shoot and again at our “Meet the Bachelor” party at the Boathouse, I can say it will be a very tight race. So, check out our bachelor spread (page 26), and log on to www.celebratehiltonhead.com to vote for Celebrate Hilton Head’s Bachelor of 2007. Hurry! Voting ends December 10.
Once you cast your vote for our bachelors, you probably need to concentrate on the countdown to Christmas and other important tasks of the season, such as shopping, decorating and entertaining. We have the perfect mix of stories to help guide you in all your seasonal endeavors, including some tips for getting through the office holiday party without embarrassing yourself or losing your job (page 10).
If you’re still making your list and checking it twice, get gift ideas from some of our favorite island merchants. (See pages 34, 44, 52 and 68). Savvy shoppers who are ahead of the game will want to round out your calendars with exciting local happenings. If you’ve never ridden down Dove Street in December, you’re in for a special treat. Read about this spectacular display of lights on page 32. And don’t forget to reserve your seats for the Arts Center’s production of “White Christmas.” (Get a sneak preview on page 14.)
Just so you don’t forget the true spirit of the season, be sure to take in our Good Read on page 30. However you choose to make merry, as you gather with friends and loved ones, remember to celebrate our beautiful island. I hope you enjoy this issue of Celebrate Hilton Head.
