The Art League of Hilton Head announces awards honoring Best In Show during the Craft Hilton Head 2012 opening night reception that took place on the evening of Thursday, November 15.

Hilton Head Island, SC— The Art League of Hilton Head hosted an opening reception for Craft Hilton Head 2012 on Thursday November 15th. This is the second annual juried exhibition featuring works of fine 3D art from artists across the United States.

Esteemed judge, Linda Bloom, selected eight artists to receive awards. Local artist Mark Larkin was awarded “Best in Show” for his welded steel and wood sculpture Ping-Pong Pinball. Second prize was awarded to artist Earline Allen for his porcelain creation, Energized Vessel. Third prize was awarded to Betsy Rogers for Sun, Moon and Stars, a necklace hand crafted of sterling and argentium 930 silver and cultured pearl. Five Honorable Mention awards were given to artists Sheri Farbstein, Wally Garfield, Donna Ireton, Jim Liedtke and Carol Williams.

The exhibition is free and open to the public through December 30 at the Art League of Hilton Head’s Walter Greer Gallery, open Monday though Saturday from 10am-4pm. Honorable mention artist, Donna Ireton, will perform pine needle basketry demonstrations in the gallery from 1-4pm on November 21, December 13, 17 and 27.
